Frequently Asked Questions

Should I write a book?

A book can be right for anybody. Most of our clients are professionals of some sort, and they decided to author a book for reasons that would benefit their professional endeavours. If you have a story to tell, get in touch, and we’ll advise you as to whether becoming an author is right for you.

What if I don’t have enough information for a whole book?

This is something we will discuss when you first get in touch with us about your idea. It is important that you do have enough information and content to fill a whole book. Our role is not to make-up your content, our role is just to work with your own words and ideas.

If we do not feel that you have a book in you, we will let you know before we start. Our objective is to work with those people who have a story to tell, and who can use that story to create growth in all aspects of their lives.

What if I have an idea, but I don’t really know how to tie it into a book?

This is normal, and if this is you, get in touch. We will help you figure this out by first figuring out why you are writing the book? What do you want to accomplish with it, and who is your target audience? Once we know this information, we can work together to develop the idea.

If I don’t have to write anything, who is the author of the book?

You are the author because it is your ideas, your words, and your voice. Our process is based on interviews – we record you talking about the book, and we work with those recordings to put it all together into a published book. You are the author and you own the rights to the book.

Some of the world’s best-selling books have been written in this way.

Is Book Peacock a ‘ghostwriting’ service?

No we are not. Ghostwriting implies that the ghostwriter is developing the content and ideas and then giving credit to someone else. This is different, we compile the book, completely based on your ideas.

The Peacock Process is based on you providing us with the content, so our writers don’t need to worry about that. This is why we are able to offer our service at a competitive price, if it were a ghostwriting service, it would need to cost a whole lot more.

Who are the writers?

The Peacock Process is separated into a few different stages. We have a team of experts to assist with the different stages of the process. The writing process is done by one of the writers from our carefully curated team. We try and match our writer and clients in a way that creates as much synergy as possible. We only bring on writers that have extensive credentials and experience in the field.

Who do you not work with?

It’s true, not everyone is a good fit to work with Book Peacock. If you don’t yet know what you want to write about, then you need to figure that out first. We can’t tell you what you should know about. We also can’t work with people who want to actually be the ones to type it out. This is a request that disrupts our process, and the quality of our work. At this time, we can only work with clients who are interested in pursuing the complete Peacock Process. We have the same policy with regard to editors and other people involved in the process. Just let us take care of it, we promise we’ll impress you.

How long until my book is published and in my hand?

This largely depends on how long the interview process takes, but if you can keep up with is, it can be done in four months, and sometimes less.

What if I’ve already written part of the book myself?

For best results, the answer is usually that we suggest starting from the beginning. The problem with using already completed work is that it interrupts the process. It is critical that we start your book from the beginning, and that means not allowing previous material to influence or bias that process. Starting fresh is the best way for us to get a cohesive and targeted final book. However, there is not reason why you can’t make a point to include all the points you have already made in the interviews you will be giving.

What if I’m not happy with it?

When the manuscript is complete, you will have a chance to review it. It is likely that there will be parts of it that you want changed, reviewed, improved, etc… This is a normal part of the writing process. Give us your feedback, and we’ll work with it. In most cases, a little back-and-forth is all that is needed to ensure the manuscript meets all your expectations. Remember, we are not ghostwriting your book, we are just compiling the content and ideas that you supplied us.

You will have complete autonomy over the content of your manuscript, whatever you want in there can go in there.

Who designs the book cover?

We work with a talented team of designers. Our process is good because we don’t just pick a cover for you, we accept submissions from lots of our designers, and you can choose the one you like, and offer insight on it so that the cover we decide to go with is one that you love.

You will also have complete autonomy over the choice of cover.

How long will my book be?

It is hard for us to answer this definitively because it very much depends on the content that is provided in the interviews, but our average book falls between 100-150 pages. We find this is a good length to accomplish the objectives that most of our clients seek to.

How do I make money with my book?

Most people do not make money by selling copies of their books. Only a small number of published authors make significant money from book sales. But the GOOD NEWS is that there are so many other ways to make money from a book.

If you have a book, you have instant credibility, and opportunity will find you. For example, you might be a coach, and having a book will bring you a lot more clients. A book gives you visibility in your field, it makes you a credible figure. There are so many ways that this increased visibility and credibility can make you money.

Be sure to download ‘The Peacock Process’ as we explain in detail the different ways to make money from a book.

Where will my book be sold?

Your book will be available for sale on Amazon, iBooks, Barnes & Noble, and all the other retailers, big and small. Your book will have an ISBN, so any retailer will be able to carry it. Even the bookstores can carry it if they want to.

Is it just an eBook, or do I get a published printed book too?

You get both. Your book will be available for purchase as an eBook, and as a printed book. But that doesn’t mean you need to have large amounts of inventory, it is done on a print-on-demand system. When someone buys your book on Amazon, it is printed on demand, and shipped, no headaches for you. This is the best way to do it for anybody who is not already a best-selling author.

How do I manage my book once it’s published?

We give you access to a management platform that will allow you to track your sales and order as many copies of your book at cost as you want (to give away free to your clients and potential clients).

Do I have to sell my book on Amazon, or can I sell it on my website?

You will get access to an easy book-selling platform that will allow you to sell your books privately, allowing you to keep the majority of the money. (You don’t have to give Amazon a cut).

How much does Amazon take?

For eBooks, Amazon takes about 30%, and with printed books, they take about 40%.

Who owns the rights to the book?

You do, you are the author. Book Peacock does not retain any rights to the work.
